Bicycle Touring Adventures
A Typical Day
We’ll wake up, pack
and cook breakfast with the goal to be on the road by 9am. Each day
our route is carefully planned so we can enjoy our ride, make stops
at interesting places and not feel as if we’re rushing to our
destination. There’s plenty to do on a typical day and our
detailed daily itineraries will not only tell you where to turn but
where to stop and will inform you of great sights, interesting events
and what to do at each location. Along our way, we might take time to
hike to a waterfall, swim in a nearby lake or go white water rafting.
We will also make stops to pick up our food and we’ll all take
turns preparing delicious meals, which we’ll enjoy at our campsites
in the countryside. When we’re passing through cities, we’ll
usually stay at hostels and eat at restaurants.) We’ll spend our
evenings enjoying each others company, exploring towns, playing games
and having lots of laughs while having fun.
Self Supported Trips
All of our trips
are self supported, meaning you will be traveling with all of your
clothes and sleeping bag on the back of your bike. Occasionally,
depending on trip there may also be one or two short van shuttles
usually at the very beginning or end of a trip. We use these to
avoid big city traffic, only when necessary. Along with your bike,
we supply your panniers for most of our trips. Our leaders also
travel with bike trailers to lighten our individual loads.
Challenge Level
Introductory Trips: You won’t need
any experience on one of these trips. Anyone with a desire to learn
bicycle touring, will succeed. Our bicycle day usually covers 20 to
25 miles over level or gently rolling terrain with three to four
hours of biking each day. We will also have a few days for other
activities such as rafting, sea kayaking, or visiting an interesting
community.

Intermediate Trips: While previous
bicycle touring experience isn’t necessary, you should be in fairly
good physical condition. We’ll be cycling an average of 35 to
40 miles per day, usually over mostly flat to rolling terrain with 5
to 6 hours of biking each day. We will take one or two breaks for
other fun activities like rafting or sea kayaking.

Gear
We provide all bicycles, bike
racks and panniers (saddle bags) for most of our touring trips,
however, you are welcome to bring your own bike provided it meets our
specifications. |
